Seeing Orange: .C-470 Construction Woes
Road Work Scheduled Through September
C-470 between I-25 and Santa Fe Drive and the C-470 Bike Trail from I-70 to I-25 will be littered with orange barrels for quite some time. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and its contractor, Castle Rock Construction Co., continues a multi-modal concrete rehabilitation project on a nine-mile stretch of C-470 between I-25 and Santa Fe Drive and along a 26-mile stretch of the C-470 bike path between I-70 and I-25.

Motorists can expect lane closures during the weekends, weather permitting, from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The concrete repairs have been completed on the mainline and ramps in both directions and now the Micro Surfacing has begun going West Bound. Once the Micro Surfacing is complete with 2 lifts going West Bound they will then begin East Bound. At the beginning of May Stone Matrix Asphalt will be placed going West Bound in conjunction while the Micro Surfacing is going East Bound. Guardrail work will begin on April 21, 2010 at nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday through Thursday.
Bike Path
The work in the Highline Canal area is completed except for one minor item of 2 signs to be placed. Concrete repairs will resume at Quincy and move east. It will take approximately 11 weeks to complete the work from Quincy to Quebec. During the work, some minor closures or detours may be required. Bicyclists are asked to dismount from their bicycles to get around our work zone for safety issues.
